As it was incorporated into Georgia in 1821, Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County, Georgia, is the second oldest city in the metro Atlanta area. It was named after a commander in the War of 1812, Captain James Lawrence. The city of Lawrenceville is 13.1 square miles in area, and the housing density is 591 houses per square mile. Population, at time of post, stands at 29,841.
